rADIATION
Nuclear waste is produced from industrial, medical and scientific processes that use radioactive material. Nuclear waste can have detrimental effects on marine habitats. Europe is the biggest source of nuclear radiation in the water. Traces from Europe radiation can be traced as far as Greenland. Some companies mine for uranium. Uranium is mostly found under water. Uranium is very radioactive. Water is also used to cool down nuclear plants, that water is then dumped back into the ocean.
oIL sPILLS
Oil spills make up 12 percent of all of the oil in the oceans. The rest of the oil comes from shipping, water traveling, drains, and dumping. Oil does not dissolve in the water, it instead spreads. Oil spills suffocates fish, disables plant's photosynthesis, it also gets caught in bird's feathers [ the bird is then unable to fly ].
Global Warming
Increase of the water's tempature can kill or affect many of the aquatic life that depends on it. The rising of the water's tempature bleaches coral reefs. When coral bleaches it expells microorganisms that it depends on to live. The coral then dies off. All life in the coral reef also die off. It is a Circle Effect as water warms it releases gas that warms up the air, as the air warms it makes the water warm up even more, making the water release more gases.
Aquatic Dumping
Dumping trash into the ocean can and will cause many threats to marine life. 6-Pack Soda Rings can get caught around an animal's neck and then it will suffocate. Everything erodes at different amounts of time in water. Cardboard takes 2 weeks to degrade. Newspaper takes 6 weeks to degrade. Photos also take 6 weeks to degrade. Styrofoam takes 80 years to degrade. Aluminum takes 200 years to degrade. Plastic takes 400 years to degrade.
